The Charleston Beer Exchange has been chosen as the best bottle shop in the country for the second straight year according to the annual Rate Beer Best Awards, an annually released list of the best beers, shops, breweries, restaurants, and bars as chosen by RateBeer reviewers from all over the world. The awards also recognized South Carolina’s best beer as Westbrook’s Mexican Coffee Cake and Westbrook Brewing as the best brewery. You might have been fortunate to try Mexican Cake over the last year. The Coffee Cake version was served by the brewery at both Brewvival this past year and also during its second anniversary celebration last month. Other South Carolina beer folks getting recognized for subregion awards were the Aiken Brewing Company as best brewpub, Barley’s – Greenville as best restaurant, Whole Foods – Greenville as best grocery store, and the Flying Saucer in Columbia as best bar.
